8-1 Discussion Sustainable Design

Q It is the hopes of many that the future of fashion will belong to clothes with a more moral principle. Designer Stella McCartney as well as several other designers are creating garments that are all in accordance with their organic-biological principles. As a society, we are very concerned with eating green (organic, local, etc.), but why do you think the idea of green fashion is less successful? What other fashion companies or designers can you identify as promoting this ecological and ethical trend? Refer to the Discussion Rubric for directions on completing these discussions.

The idea of green fashion is less successful because there are mostly customers not very keen to promote/support animal rights, especially when it comes to wearing of leather jackets, leather accessories, etc. Animal-hide is important to be obtained by rearing of the skins of animals so that there can be innovative clothes made for citizens of countries living in extremely cold countries. There could be lack of faith of customers on the quality and durability of clothes when clothes are made from vegetarian substitutes/alternatives.
